This guide shows you how to install plantation shutters on a standard window and on the outside mount. If you have a bay window or you wish to install the plantation shutters on the inside mount you will need to take different measurements, however, the instructions you find below will help you get an idea as to what you need to do.
Step One – Choosing the Position
Here at Sun Devil Shutters, our phoenix plantation shutters are high-quality and ready to be installed in your home. If you choose to install your new shutters yourself you’ll need to make sure you have the right tools. The tools you’ll need include:
- A tape measure
- A level
- Paper and pen
- A drill
You will now need to choose the position of the frame. It will need to be fitted to a flat surface. If your window tilts or opens inward, the shutter frame will obstruct it. Please feel free to contact us as we might be able to help you.
Now Fit the L-frame onto a surrounding wall.
Step Two – Measure the Window
Step Three – Choose the Depth of the Frame
Step Four – Assembling the Frame
Step Five – Fixing the Frame into Position
Make sure that the frame is level and start to insert a crew on each side, one side at a time. When you are satisfied that the frame is level you can add the remaining screws
Step Six – Hanging the Panels
Depending on where you purchased your plantation shutters, your frame might come with 2 hinges. Whatever the case may be, you will need to make sure that the right panels are in the right location.
Line up the hinge parts and ensure that you can connect the drop pin. Do this until all of the panels are attached. Don’t be afraid to adjust the hinges, should you need to.
Your new plantation shutters should now be looking good. If the panels do not line up unscrew the affected section of the frame and adjust it until you’re satisfied.
