2024 Smart Home Innovator Scholarship

Sun Devil Shutters is proud to offer the ‘Smart Home Innovator’ Scholarship, awarded annually to a student who demonstrates innovative thinking in integrating smart home technologies to enhance energy savings and comfort in homes.

Essay Prompt

“How can smart home technologies, such as automated shades and energy-efficient systems, transform the way we live? Propose an innovative project that integrates these technologies to enhance energy savings and comfort in homes.”

Eligibility

Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale.
Be enrolled as an incoming junior for the 2024-2025 academic year at an Arizona Located and accredited 4-year college or university.
Have completed the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) for the 2024-2025 academic year, and have a demonstrated unmet financial aid need, which will be verified.

Award Distribution

The scholarship will be awarded directly to the recipient’s educational institution to be used for educational expenses such as tuition, books, or supplies.

Application Requirements

Online Application Form: Complete the form on the Sun Devil Shutters website.
Essay Submission: Write a 350-600 word essay responding to the essay prompt.
Video Submission: Upload a short video (1-3 minutes) introducing yourself.

Selection Criteria

The selection committee will evaluate applications based on the following criteria:

Relevance to the Prompt: How well the essay addresses the prompt.
Innovation and Creativity: The originality and feasibility of the proposed project.
Clarity and Thoughtfulness: The coherence and thoughtfulness of the essay.
Passion for Smart Home Technologies: Demonstrated interest and enthusiasm for the topic.

I just recently purchased shutters for 7 windows for my house in north Phoenix ,and I am so happy I did use Sun Devil Shutters. I had a choice to go with Home depot contractor and the price was double what Sun Devil codded me and was made in China. Not only that , when I need a service on the window to be done, the owner Ken ( CEO ) came himself to check it out and less than 20 minutes the crew of three people came and fixed what I asked them to fix ( adding extra magnet, touch up , and did some alignment that needed to be done). Will I recommend them to my family, friends , and neighbors, yes, defiantly I will and I did. Thank you Ken for all you do every day to deliver a good product and yes I received an ICONIC customer experience. By the way his products is MADE IN USA!!

Great customer service! We purchase our shutter is 2018 when we got our house. Fast forward 5 years and my three year old decides to be a little rougher with them than he should. I called about the damage and they repaired them no problem! No questions, no judgement, no fees- just replaced and on their way. The best. Highly recommend.
