Sun Devil Shutters is proud to offer the ‘Smart Home Innovator’ Scholarship, awarded annually to a student who demonstrates innovative thinking in integrating smart home technologies to enhance energy savings and comfort in homes.

Essay Prompt

“How can smart home technologies, such as automated shades and energy-efficient systems, transform the way we live? Propose an innovative project that integrates these technologies to enhance energy savings and comfort in homes.”

Eligibility

  • Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Be enrolled as an incoming junior for the 2024-2025 academic year at an Arizona Located and accredited 4-year college or university.
  • Have completed the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) for the 2024-2025 academic year, and have a demonstrated unmet financial aid need, which will be verified.

Award Distribution

The scholarship will be awarded directly to the recipient’s educational institution to be used for educational expenses such as tuition, books, or supplies.

Application Requirements

  • Online Application Form: Complete the form on the Sun Devil Shutters website.
  • Essay Submission: Write a 350-600 word essay responding to the essay prompt.
  • Video Submission: Upload a short video (1-3 minutes) introducing yourself.

Selection Criteria

The selection committee will evaluate applications based on the following criteria:

  • Innovation and Creativity: The originality and feasibility of the proposed project.

The company has a great selection of options, and our sales representative, Mario, was VERY helpful in recommending some good choices for our windows. The company handles the installation, and our installer was fast and efficient. Doing your own installation isnt an option, however, so you do have to include that expense as part of the project. There are likely companies that will provide window treatments for less, but based on the quality of their products and service, Im glad we went with Sun Devil Shutters.
